Oracle Bought Sun (future of open source specially MySql)
Today I saw news that oracle bought sun .Sun acquisition is expected according to last week speculating news IBM buying out Sun.
Oracle is database leader in market and MySql is open source databases which is growing quickly in market and off course was a competitor of oracle. Now oracle buys Sun mean Oracle buys MySql. What will be the future of MySql? What will be the oracle strategy for MySql?

I think it will be beneficial for MySQL, better off in the hands of Oracle than in Sun's. Not sure about Java though. I have to read more on the impact of the acquisitions on Java as a language.
One thing that I am sure of is that now all eyes will be on Java 7, if it is the first release to be put out under the belt of Oracle. Interesting....

Although, the question is if Oracle is interested in all the Open Source stuff. Will Glassfish still be an Open Source alternative besides Bea? Or Netbeans and JDeveloper and Java 7 future specially depends on how much oracle interested in openness of the JCP

hum... low end database i think.. it will be their cheap product for small bussines
IMHO, despite nothing being certain, I am pretty sure about one thing, Oracle would be a better container for Sun products than IBM. About MySQL and other Open Source projects at Sun, thats the shady part, AFAIK Oracle does not have a rich history in that track at least some what lesser than IBM, so I would think that this acquisition would actually enable them to bolster a Open Source stack and provide and expand the Service division; providing cheaper solution.
Whetever or not it could be beneficial to MySQL, it will give a boost to PostgreSQL. And that may be a great plus for open source database community.
